Could this study be right for you?

You may be eligible if you have had a stroke and have difficulty paying attention to the affected side of the body or environment since your stroke.

You may not be eligible if you have difficulty following directions or have another neurological diagnosis.

Improving measurement and treatment of post-stroke neglect: Study 2

Study Purpose

We are conducting a study to examine the effects of brain stimulation and arm movement in stroke survivors who have a loss of awareness or attention to one side of their body or the environment.

Could this study be right for you?

You may be eligible if you have had a stroke at least 3 months ago, have difficulty paying attention to the affected side of the body or environment since your stroke, and have weakness in your arm/hand but have some movement ability.

You may not be eligible if you have severe spasticity in your arm/hand, difficulty following directions, a neurological diagnosis other than stroke, a history of seizures, or implants/metal in the body that are not compatible with MRI or brain stimulation.

What participants can expect

Participants will be asked to complete assessments as part of a screening process.  If qualified to participate in the study, participants will participate in assessments, an MRI and 2 experimental sessions.  During the experimental sessions, participants will receive transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) while performing motor tasks with their affected arm.
